Question by Calgoseal: What to do when a creditor does’nt bill you for a long time?
I owed Mervyns $ 30.00 for some pants. They did’nt bill me for SEVEN MONTHS. Then when they did they tacked on over $ 200.00 in interest and “late” fees. Why am I supposed to give then $ 200.00 for their incompetency. It’ not my job to remind them to bill me? Now these A holes have screwed up my credit rating FOR ME.

Legally, they don’t even have to send you a bill. Basically, its your debt your responsible for paying whether they send you a bill or not.
Ulitmately, you are responsible. You should have called them when you didn’t get the bill after a month and inquired as to why you had not received a bill. You can try to reason with the credit manager to see if they will remove the late charges. Otherwise your stuck with your $ 230 pants. Chalk it up to a lesson learned.
