By signing Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endō and Ryan Gravenberch during the summer window, Liverpool completely transformed its midfield department. It was a gamble to leave all that work to one transfer period, but the Reds made some good purchases, and things have gelled much more quickly than might have been expected.

In turn, other areas of the field have looked much stronger as well. Virgil van Dijk has returned to a level close to his peak, largely as a result of having better protection in front of him. Cody Gakpo has been used in midfield on occasion but that has mainly not been necessary, giving Jürgen Klopp an extra option in his forward line.

But there remains more transfer work to get done. Liverpool could have done with bringing in a left-sided center-back during the previous window and therefore should still be in the market for one. And while a number six is not currently a priority in January, the fact that Liverpool went so big for Moisés Caicedo suggests that it remains a possibility at some point.

Here is the verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today. We start with a 15-year-old talent who has recently stepped up to senior level in Italy.

Francesco Camarda (AC Milan)

Liverpool and Chelsea are among the teams taking a look at 15-year-old AC Milan and Italy wonderkid Francesco Camarda, 90Min has claimed. The teenager recently became the youngest player to feature in Serie A when he came off the bench aginst Fiorentina.

During his youth career to date, Camarda has scored over 400 goals. As well as Liverpool and Chelsea, a number of other European clubs like Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund are all keeping tabs on him too. says: It would make sense to try and snap up Camarda before he signs a professional contract but quite how a work permit would work with Brexit rules now changed remains to be seen. Things are not as easy as they were when Liverpool brought in Stefan Bajčetić from Celta Vigo in 2021.

Lucas Beraldo (São Paulo)

After Brazilian outlet UOL reported earlier this week that Liverpool was leading the race to sign 20-year-old center-back Lucas Beraldo, the Sunday People (print edition, via Paisley Gates) has now claimed that the Reds have already held talks over a transfer deal. Newcastle United, however, is also named as an interested party as it searches for more depth in that area of the field.

Liverpool's home shirt for the 2023/2024 campaign pays homage to Bill Shankly and the legendary Reds manager's final season in charge at Anfield. The Nike shirt features a bright red design with a bold white contrast on the colour and cuffs.

Prices start from £59.95

Manchester United, Spurs and Chelsea have been linked with a move for Beraldo as well. The São Paulo talent is valued at around $25m (£20m/€23m) and would be available in January for a transfer. South American competitions run at different times to the European season, so, as was the case with André Trindade, a move was always likelier to come in the English winter than the summer. says: Signing a new defender needs to be a priority for Liverpool but it must be said that Joël Matip is putting forward a good case for getting an extension. Even if that happens, the Reds still need to be looking to the longer-term future and bringing in a highly-rated 20-year-old with time for him to bed in could make sense.
