Liverpool returns to Premier League action today with a home game against Fulham at Anfield kicking off a big week that also includes visits to Sheffield United and Crystal Palace. Here's your round-up of the latest Reds news.

Kylian Mbappé transfer latest

Real Madrid remains the most likely destination for PSG superstar Kylian Mbappé, whose contract in the French capital expires next summer. Any move would be far from 'free', though, with massive wages and signing-on fees to consider.

Liverpool has been linked with a move for Mbappé for a long time. At one stage it might have been realistic, but it feels like the economics behind a transfer would simply be too great these days unless his demands dropped substantially.

Mbappé signing for Real Madrid would be the next best thing for Liverpool because he would at least then not be in the Premier League playing for a rival. If he can't end up at Anfield, not joining another English side would be good news.

According to Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool has no plan to get involved in a transfer race. It simply does not have the financial power to make a deal happen.

"We laugh about it," Jürgen Klopp has previously said about suggestions Liverpool would try again to sign Mbappé. "I can say that I think he’s a really good player, but the financial conditions don’t suit us at all. I wouldn’t like to ruin the story now, but as far as I know, there’s nothing to it."

Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mané left fuming

The Saudi Pro League might not be the most exciting or well-followed league but Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mané are certainly passionate about it. The pair clashed with Al-Hilal defender Ali Al-Bulayhi during their most recent game.

During a 3-0 loss for Ronaldo and Mané's Al-Nassr, Ronaldo was furious with perceived play-acting from Al-Bulayhi (ironic, you might say). As he fumed, Mané was seen sarcastically clapping the defender. Al-Bulayhi was later sent off for a second bookable offense but it was too late for Al-Nassr, who was heavily beaten.

Sergej Milinković-Savić put Al-Hilal 1-0 in front, with former Newcastle United and Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrović then scoring twice. At half-time, Ronaldo was taunted by chants of 'Messi, Messi' from the Al-Hilal fans.
