As the transfer window rumbles on, all eyes are on the future of one of the world’s biggest stars.
Kylian Mbappé has long been linked with a move away from Paris Saint-Germain, and this summer, his strained relationship with the French club looks as though it may be reaching its natural conclusion.
Of course, wherever there is a question over Mbappé’s future, a mention of Liverpool is never far behind. The Reds’ priorities lie elsewhere this summer though, with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho leaving them needing more midfielders as they close in on moves to Saudi Arabia.
According to the latest reports from Europe though, the pair might well be followed to the Gulf state by Mbappé as his transfer saga takes another dramatic twist.
Meanwhile, Chelsea could be closing in on yet another signing, with reports linking the Blues to a player that has previously been touted for a move to Anfield.
Here, Liverpool.com takes a scan around the other big sides in the Premier League and around Europe to take a look at the news going on at the other clubs.
Chelsea holds 'talks' with Mohammed Kudus
Chelsea has held talks with Mohammed Kudus over a move to Stamford Bridge, according to the Daily Mail.
The $51m (£40m/€46m)-rated forward has also been linked with Arsenal and Brighton, having previously been touted for a move to Liverpool (as per The Athletic). Kudus rejected a contract extension offer from Ajax back in April, leading to suggestions he wants to leave the Eredivisie side (as per the Daily Mail).
Liverpool.com says: You might have expected Chelsea to take it a bit easier this summer after its splurge over the past 12 months resulted in such a poor campaign, but it seems Todd Boehly has other ideas.
How the Blues plan on using Kudus remains to be seen, with the Ghana international offering a few different options, but Liverpool will know all about him should he come up against the Reds on the opening day of the season.
Kylian Mbappé receives huge Saudi Arabia offer
Kylian Mbappé has been offered a $223m (£173m/€200m)-per-year deal to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, according to Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri.
The 24-year-old is currently in a stand-off with PSG over his future, having been left out of the French champion’s pre-season tour to Japan and South Korea. Mbappé has indicated he won’t sign a contract extension in France, with PSG determined not to let him go for free next summer (as per the Daily Mail).
Liverpool.com says: Up until now, the majority of transfers to Saudi Arabia have followed the same path — players in their 30s and closer to the end of their careers than the start. This would change everything though.
You’d imagine Mbappé wouldn’t be ready to leave Europe, especially having not won a Champions League yet, but if Real Madrid isn’t able to stump up the money for him, it’s hard to see where he could end up this summer. If he were to make the move to the Middle East, it could well and truly open the floodgates for other players.
