Amid all the excitement of Dominik Szoboszlai's transfer to Liverpool, it went a little bit under the radar that the Reds had sent a midfielder of their own in the opposite direction almost at the same time. Fábio Carvalho joined RB Leipzig on loan almost as a replacement for Liverpool's new number eight, and he has already started to make his mark for his new club.

Lining up in RB Leipzig's first pre-season game, Carvalho started the game and opened the scoring in the 16th minute for his side, against FC Grimma.

A comfortable performance against albeit fifth-tier opposition, Carvalho's goal helped Leipzig open the floodgates with his side ultimately scoring seven goals in total.

But Carvalho wasn't the only debutant who caught the eye. Alongside him, another exciting young talent was also making his debut for RB Leipzig in Benjamin Šeško, and the Slovenian forward who arrived from Red Bull Salzburg went a step further than Liverpool's loanee.

Šeško scored an impressive hat-trick within just 13 minutes, scoring his first in the 23rd minute and finishing his third in the 36th minute.

That's an exciting start to the Slovenian's career in Germany, granted the opposition wasn't the greatest but scoring a hat-trick on your debut is never a bad thing.

Having only recently turned 20, Šeško arrives at Leipzig as a really exciting prospect. He made 40 goal contributions in total for Red Bull Salzburg, averaging 0.86 goal contributions per 90.

On top of that, he already has six goals for Slovenia at senior international level, and it seems like he has only just gotten started.

Standing at a towering height of 1.94 meters (6ft 4in), Šeško is an imposing presence on the pitch because not only is he blessed with lightning speed, which at one point was clocked faster than Kylian Mbappé as we previously wrote, but he also has excellent ability on the ball.

Liverpool transfer Benjamin Šeško
Liverpool could transfer target Benjamin Šeško in the future.

In this sense, Šeško shares a lot of similarities with Liverpool's current number nine, Darwin Núñez, who also has good technique and speed that frightens opposition defenses.

He has also drawn comparisons with Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland, a tag which he relishes.

“Such comparisons motivate me and give me energy," Šeško said previously (via Bundesliga). "They do not represent pressure. I will listen and learn so I can be even better than he is. My teammates at the club tell me that Haaland and I are very similar, especially in terms of speed. Most of them even tell me that I’m better than him!”

With relations excellent between Red Bull and Liverpool, emphasized by the arrival of Szoboszlai at Anfield and Carvalho's departure to Leipzig, it is not unfeasible that the Reds could consider the Slovenian somewhere down the line if Šeško continues to catch the eye.

After all, he has already been schooled in the gegenpressing system, and like Liverpool's previous players who also represented Red Bull like Sadio Mané, Naby Keïta, Takumi Minamino and Ibrahima Konaté, he would theoretically at least not take too long to settle under Jürgen Klopp.

All that is to be decided in the future, but it's clear RB Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg are worth keeping an eye on for Liverpool fans.

Clearly, Anfield is a destination many Red Bull players are open to, and Liverpool sees it as an excellent place to discover talent.

Given his exciting talent and playing style, Šeško might just be the next player to follow in the footsteps of Szoboszlai, and his first moments in a Leipzig shirt alongside Carvalho seem to have vindicated that possibility.
